Which is the best traditional basic granny square?

I have been looking for the best traditional basic granny pattern long time ago. I tried these, so I can compare:

A)
This is a very lacy block. It's quick, but It was uncomfortable turn crochet hook on the long lines.
I think this version is ideal for lightweight summer shawl from thin bamboo or cotton or silk yarn. However, it could be interesting winter shawl from fluffy mohair yarn.

B)
It's pretty and solid! I think this version is ideal for afghan crochet baby blanket from medium cotton or soft wool or acrylic yarn.

C)
It's very thankful pattern! 4.5" with five row, not bad ;) Super for afghans or anything else, when the quick results is important.

D)
Lovely! :) Thick crochet pattern for warm blanket from winter yarn.

E)
And finally, the fattest pattern. It's slightly stiff and slow work, but beautiful! :)

How to crochet these?

You can see free patterns and diagrams / chart for each of them:
